# Generate abstract from PDF: web app and CLI
## What it does
Creates an AI‑generated abstract or summary of a PDF document. The abstract can be tailored by style (academic, professional, casual), length (short, medium, long), output language, and optionally include a keyword list or a concluding section.

## Inputs and limits
- **Web app** – Upload a PDF file (any size supported by the service).
- **CLI** – Place a PDF in the task’s input folder and run the plugin with a task‑id.

## Web app
Upload your PDF, choose the abstract style, length, output language, and whether to include keywords or a conclusion. After processing, the generated abstract is shown as plain text that can be copied or downloaded.

## Command line (CLI)
Run the Documentize.Abstracts CLI plugin with a task‑id and optional arguments for style, length, etc. The plugin reads the PDF from the input folder and writes the abstract result to the output folder.
```bash
# Linux / macOS (needs the .NET 10 runtime and documentize.lic next to the DLL)
export PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR=./work/input
export PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR=./work/output
mkdir -p "$PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR/job1"
cp abstracts_sample.pdf "$PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR/job1/"
dotnet Documentize.Abstracts.dll --task-id job1
ls "$PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR/job1"
```

```powershell
# Windows PowerShell
$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR  = "$PWD\work\input"
$env:PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR = "$PWD\work\output"
New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force "$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR\job1" | Out-Null
Copy-Item abstracts_sample.pdf "$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR\job1\"
dotnet Documentize.Abstracts.dll --task-id job1
Get-ChildItem "$env:PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR\job1"
```
