# Compress PDF files: web app and MCP
## What it does
Reduces the file size of a PDF document. The compression can be set to low, medium, or high level.

## Inputs and limits
* Input: a single PDF file.
* Maximum file size: 32 MB per operation.
* Supported sources (web app): local computer, Dropbox, Google Drive.

## Web app
The page asks you to select a PDF file, choose a compression level (Low, Medium, High), and start the compression. After processing, you download the reduced‑size PDF.

## MCP
The hosted MCP tool **CompressDocument** compresses a PDF given its public URL.

Parameters:
* `fileUrl` (string, required) – public URL of the PDF to compress.
* `compressType` (integer, optional) – compression level: 0 = low, 1 = medium, 2 = high.

Example call (using level 1): CompressDocument(fileUrl: "https://example.com/document.pdf", compressType: 1)
Client configuration (the key comes from your Documentize account):

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "documentize": {
      "url": "https://api.documentize.app/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer dmk_YOUR_KEY_HERE"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Tool call (`tools/call`). The tool returns a task id; poll `get_task_status` until it reports 200, then download the file from `uploadFileName`:

```json
{
  "name": "compress_document",
  "arguments": {
    "fileUrl": "https://www.w3.org/WAI/ER/tests/xhtml/testfiles/resources/pdf/dummy.pdf",
    "compressType": 1
  }
}
```
