What it does
The Converter app changes a document from one format to another. It supports PDF as both source and target, and can also handle DOCX, PPTX, HTML, image formats and plain text.
Inputs and limits
- Input files are uploaded directly or supplied as a public URL.
- Up to 10 files can be processed in one request.
- The total size of all files must not exceed 32 MB.
- Files are kept on the server for 24 hours; they can be deleted immediately after conversion.
Web app
The web page asks the user to upload one or more files (or paste a Base64 string).
The user selects the output format from the drop‑down labelled “Format”.
Optional settings are available under “Show all settings”, including:
- “Convert to single output file” – combine all inputs into one result file.
- Delimiter choice (comma, semicolon, tab, or no delimiter) for text‑based conversions.
- “Excel export mode” – either “Convert entire document” or “Extract tables only”.
After confirming, the service returns the converted file(s).
Command line (CLI)
The CLI plugins are self‑contained .NET assemblies. They read input files from a task‑specific folder and write the result to a corresponding output folder. The required option is --output-format (default docx). The task id must be supplied so that the correct folders are used.
Convert a PDF to DOCX (checks that the result contains the word “Abstract”):
# Linux / macOS (needs the .NET 10 runtime and documentize.lic next to the DLL)
export PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR=./work/input
export PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR=./work/output
mkdir -p "$PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR/job1"
cp abstracts_sample.pdf "$PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR/job1/"
dotnet Documentize.PdfSaveAs.dll --task-id job1 --output-format docx
ls "$PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR/job1"
# Windows PowerShell
$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR = "$PWD\work\input"
$env:PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR = "$PWD\work\output"
New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force "$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR\job1" | Out-Null
Copy-Item abstracts_sample.pdf "$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR\job1\"
dotnet Documentize.PdfSaveAs.dll --task-id job1 --output-format docx
Get-ChildItem "$env:PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR\job1"
