What it does
Extracts all embedded images from a PDF document. The result consists of the original image files as they appear in the PDF, without quality loss.
Inputs and limits
- Input: a single PDF file.
- The tool works with PDFs that contain embedded raster images. Scanned PDFs are treated as full‑page images.
Web app
The web page asks you to Upload your PDF file. After uploading, the service extracts all embedded images and makes them available for download. The page mentions support for files from Dropbox or Google Drive and that the original image quality is preserved.
Command line (CLI)
The Documentize CLI plugin extracts images from a PDF placed in a task‑specific input folder and writes the images to the matching output folder. The plugin needs a task ID to locate the folders.
# Linux / macOS (needs the .NET 10 runtime and documentize.lic next to the DLL)
export PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR=./work/input
export PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR=./work/output
mkdir -p "$PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR/job1"
cp illustration.pdf "$PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR/job1/"
dotnet Documentize.ExtractImage.dll --task-id job1
ls "$PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR/job1"
# Windows PowerShell
$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR = "$PWD\work\input"
$env:PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR = "$PWD\work\output"
New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force "$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR\job1" | Out-Null
Copy-Item illustration.pdf "$env:PLUGIN_INPUT_DIR\job1\"
dotnet Documentize.ExtractImage.dll --task-id job1
Get-ChildItem "$env:PLUGIN_OUTPUT_DIR\job1"
